Client : Resinkem
Duration : 6 Months
Budget : R1,080,000
Following the implementation of Archestra in the Formaldehyde plant during which new software standards was developed Resinkem wanted to roll out these new improved standards and functionality to the rest of the plant (ie The Glue Plant). At the same time Resinkem have committed to manufacturing Phenol Formaldehyde Resins which will entail plant modification and additions.
CSS was awarded the project and the scope included the design, implementation and commissioning of the new Phenol plant control system as well as the complete reconfiguration and upgrading of the InBatch batch engine on site.
The plant was remodelled according to the s88 standards batch implementation standards. The process was controlled by a Modicon Quantum. One of the project goals was to eliminate a propriety excel based software package that allowed dynamic recipe changes during production based on material strengths. This was completed by integrating that component into the PLC.
Commissioning was completed in production on a phased approach, and no production downtime was booked against the project.
