New Hilux Line Andon System

During the implementation of the new control system CSS was awarded the project to implementing the ANDON JIDOKA System for the new Hilux (2005) system. This included:

  • A complete pull cord protection system with the facility to do a temp stop, or calling for parts as each station on the line.
  • Time scheduling for start/stop of lines, had to take into account tee, lunchtimes, and weekly meetings, but be flexible enough to allow for short notice overtime work and unplanned stoppages.
  • Message display to operators in the field via display boards (ANDON)
  • Voice prompts to alert operators to perform certain tasks.

Because of the critical nature of the messages that are conveyed via the ANDON boards, it was crucial that these messages were correct across all the boards on the line from the word go.
