Raw materials are transferred from the stock pile area via vibrator feeders, located below the stock piles, onto the conveying system and into the respective day bins. A splitter car or bogie is moved directly above the day bin and will transfer the material on the conveyor belt into the bin. Twenty six vibrator feeders all of which were DOL motors were changed to work on Siemens Simocodes and five conveyors also previously DOL were changed to work on Siemens Soft starters. All simocodes andsoft starters communicate on profibus via a ProLinx gateway to a Premium (Unity) plc. A Schneider STB I/O module is also used mainly for the twenty day bin levels.

CSS's portion of this project was to do the complete electrical and software design, software development and commissioning based on Assmang standards. The system was previously completely manually operated via push buttons. The goal was to completely automate the plant to eliminate operator errors that could lead to contamination, spillages and down time.
