Assmang formally known as Feralloys selected CSS to complete the Furnace 3 & 4 Batch plant upgrade. The scope of work was to design, supply and install the electrical and instrumentation control system to modify the Furnace 3 and 4 raw materials handling from an old shuttle car batching system to a new hopper bin and conveyor batching system with vibrating feeders.
The existing control system infrastructure was retained being a Modicon Quantum with an InTouch supervisory system. The configuration and application software was completely redone to cater for the mechanical changes and to allow for device additions. Batch totals were stored to Industrial SQL server and reported on using Wonderware Active Factory. All relevant data as required by the plant MES was made available in INSQL for extraction to the ERP system.
Following this project, production quality issues was drastically reduced due to the accuracy of the batching system.
